- Create Diagrams & Models: Produce detailed harness routing diagrams, electrical schematics, and 2D/3D models, ensuring they conform to industry standards and project specifications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to integrate harnesses into broader product designs. Optimize harness designs for performance and manufacturability.
- Supplier Interaction: Collaborate with suppliers to source components such as connectors, cables, and other materials. Ensure all materials meet technical and quality standards.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards like IPC/WHMA-A-620 and other relevant automotive or aerospace standards.
- Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation, including engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and technical specifications for harness designs.
- Design Reviews: Participate in design reviews, offering technical input and ensuring harness designs meet all project requirements.
- Prototype & Manufacturing Support: Support production teams during prototype and manufacturing phases, addressing installation or performance issues related to harnesses.
- Design Updates & FMECA: Document design updates regularly and perform Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Experience: 2-3 years of hands-on experience in wiring harness design, development, and integration.
- Industry Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and other relevant automotive or aerospace wiring harness standards.
- CAD Tools Proficiency: Strong experience with SolidWorks and other 2D/3D CAD tools used for designing mechanical and electrical systems.
- Communication & Teamwork Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate across multiple teams.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality, precision, and ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
