NorthBay Solutions is looking for a highly motivated Azure Cost Analyst to join our team. As an Azure Cost Analyst, you will play a key role in optimizing cloud expenditures, ensuring cost management best practices are followed, and supporting cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will bring experience in Azure cloud financial management, strong analytical skills, and a passion for driving cost efficiency within cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis and Reporting:
    Monitor, track, and analyze Azure spending, usage trends, and usage patterns to create comprehensive reports, dashboards, and key insights for stakeholders.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting:
    Collaborate with finance and IT departments to develop accurate budget forecasts for Azure cloud expenditures that align with organizational goals.
  • Optimization Strategies:
    Identify and implement cost-saving measures in Azure through techniques such as right-sizing resources, recommending reserved instances, and managing underutilized or unused resources.
  • Governance and Policy Compliance:
    Develop and enforce governance policies related to Azure usage, ensuring compliance with budgeting and cost-control strategies.
  • Usage and Spend Monitoring:
    Manage alert systems for abnormal spending or usage, investigate causes for usage spikes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Chargeback and Showback Models:
    Design and implement chargeback/showback models for allocating Azure costs across business units or projects, ensuring cost visibility.
  • Azure Tagging:
    Ensure proper Azure resource tagging in coordination with cloud engineering teams to support accurate cost allocation and reporting.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with cloud engineers, Azure architects, and product teams to align cloud resource usage with budgetary goals and business needs.
  • Documentation and Training:
    Maintain clear documentation of cost management processes and provide training to teams on Azure cost management tools and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in cloud financial management or cost analysis, with a focus on Azure.
    • Proven expertise in utilizing Azure Cost Management and related financial tools, including Azure Cost Management + Billing and Power BI.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or SQL) for generating actionable cost reports.
    • Strong knowledge of Azure services, pricing models, and cloud optimization techniques (e.g., reserved instances, savings plans, and spot instances).
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Azure Fundamentals
    • Azure Cost Management
    • FinOps Certified Practitioner
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication abilities for presenting data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to collaborate across various teams to drive cost optimization initiatives.
