Key Responsibilities

  • Database Optimization: Ensure efficient management and high performance by optimizing database structure and queries.
  • Data Integrity: Implement and maintain backup and recovery processes to safeguard data integrity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to enhance and support database functionalities that align with organizational goals.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to minimize system downtime and disruptions.
  • Database Strategy Development: Develop and document best practices, guidelines, and strategies for effective database management.
  • Monitoring and Tuning: Continuously monitor database performance, making necessary adjustments to optimize high availability and reduce latency.
  • Documentation & Protocols: Maintain detailed database documentation and create clear procedures for ongoing operations and maintenance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Database Expertise: Proficiency in MySQL and PostgreSQL with an in-depth understanding of their respective features and performance tuning.
  • SQL Knowledge: Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data effectively.
  • Optimization Techniques: Hands-on experience in database optimization and the ability to execute techniques to improve speed, reliability, and capacity.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, offering technical support where necessary.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate, document strategies, and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Backup & Recovery Systems: Experience in the design and implementation of data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data security.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Database Security: Knowledge of best practices for database security to protect sensitive information.
  • Cloud-Based Solutions: Experience with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in database management systems (DBMS), SQL, or cloud infrastructure.
