Introduction

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a highly skilled Project Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning (MEL) Specialist to join our team in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Responsibilities

As a MEL Specialist, your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Oversight
    • Design and implement effective M&E systems for UNDP projects.
    • Monitor the progress of projects to ensure they are on track to meet objectives.
    • Assess project outcomes and ensure they align with goals related to rule of law and justice reforms.
  2. Reporting
    • Prepare regular, accurate reports on project activities, milestones, and results.
    • Collect data and information from project activities to prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Use findings to inform decisions, recommend improvements, and share insights with project teams and senior management.
  3. Learning & Knowledge Management
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and adaptation by facilitating learning sessions for project teams.
    • Encourage reflection and learning from both successes and challenges to improve future programming.
    • Manage the knowledge-sharing processes within the MEL team and across the organization.
  4. Collaboration & Capacity Building
    • Work closely with government counterparts, partners, and project teams to align monitoring activities with national strategies and goals.
    • Provide training and capacity-building support to local partners and stakeholders in monitoring and evaluation practices.
    • Support the development of strategies to enhance the accountability and effectiveness of UNDP’s projects.
  5. Data Analysis & Use of Technology
    • Analyze project data to evaluate performance and recommend adjustments.
    • Use technology and digital tools to enhance M&E activities and improve data collection and analysis.
    • Ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and available for decision-making purposes.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, you will need the following qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning in international development projects, ideally in rule of law or justice sector programming.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing M&E systems and processes.
  • Strong understanding of data collection and analysis methods, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
  • Familiarity with the use of M&E software and digital tools to enhance reporting and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clear and compelling reports.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the context in Pakistan, particularly the rule of law and justice sector challenges, will be highly beneficial.
