DWP Group, a leading name in its industry, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager Tax (Sales Tax) to oversee and manage all sales tax-related activities. The ideal candidate should possess comprehensive knowledge of sales tax laws and regulations, along with demonstrated expertise in statutory compliance, tax audits, and dispute resolution. This role is critical to ensuring our organization meets its tax obligations effectively and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

As a Deputy Manager Tax (Sales Tax), you will be responsible for:

  1. Sales Tax Compliance:
    • Ensuring strict adherence to the Sales Tax Act and related regulations, including timely preparation and filing of Sales Tax Returns and Provincial Sales Tax Returns with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and provincial tax authorities.
    • Managing timely responses to notices issued under various sections of the Sales Tax Act.
  2. Strategic Tax Planning:
    • Developing and implementing effective sales tax policies and strategies to optimize compliance and minimize risks.
    • Identifying and mitigating sales tax risks while exploring opportunities to enhance compliance.
  3. Audit and Appeals:
    • Leading sales tax audits, handling appeals, and resolving disputes or proceedings with tax authorities.
    • Coordinating with external auditors and tax consultants during audits and reviews.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Preparing and submitting documents for tax exemptions under relevant sections.
    • Providing management with periodic reports on sales tax matters and compliance metrics.
  5. Advisory and Support:
    • Offering expert guidance on sales tax matters to internal teams and senior management.
    • Staying updated on amendments to tax laws and judicial decisions impacting the organization.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education:
    • CA Affiliate, CFAP, CA Inter, or ACMA.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in managing sales tax-related functions, preferably in a tax consulting firm or a similar industry role.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • In-depth understanding of the Sales Tax Act and associated regulations, including amendments and recent judicial developments.
    • Proficiency with tax-related software, especially IRIS, and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle tax disputes effectively.
