Key Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor (MEP), you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Material & Quantity Takeoff: Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for structural, architectural, and external works to ensure proper material estimation and procurement planning.
  2. Payment Verification: Review and verify interim payment certificates for consultants and clients, ensuring accurate project billing.
  3. Cost Control & Budgeting: Develop cost control measures, allocate budgets, and manage monthly progress claims, variations, and change orders while ensuring adherence to project financial limits.
  4. Subcontractor Claims Evaluation: Assess subcontractor claims, prepare interim payment certificates, and ensure payments align with the agreed project scope and progress.
  5. Variation Order Documentation: Prepare and analyze variation orders, finalize payments, and settle final accounts with subcontractors.
  6. Project Status Communication: Provide timely written updates to contractors, consultants, and stakeholders on project costs, variations, and budget performance.
  7. Risk Assessment & Forecasting: Identify cost risks, suggest mitigation strategies, and forecast financial requirements for the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

Experience:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, and contract administration in the construction industry, particularly in MEP projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction cost management, project budgeting, and financial forecasting.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in quantity takeoff, cost analysis, and payment processing.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software such as Bluebeam or PlanSwift.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts, BOQ preparation, and construction contract administration.
  • Knowledge of cost control techniques, procurement planning, and project scheduling tools.
