Motive is looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join our team. In this role, you will play an integral part in the asset monitoring team, turning innovative product ideas into reality by designing scalable solutions and building critical components for our platform. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, handling backend services that provide real-time visibility into fleets, from trailers to individual tools at job sites. You’ll help customers streamline operations and maximize profitability by delivering fast, reliable, and scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
Work with product managers, engineers, and designers to design and document scalable backend solutions. - Write maintainable and efficient code:
Develop clean, secure, and robust backend code that ensures seamless operation across the platform, providing real-time insights and visibility. - Scalable API interfaces:
Build and maintain scalable API interfaces to ensure interoperability between internal and external services, enhancing product integration. - Monitoring and health checks:
Implement appropriate logging, monitoring, and debugging measures for ensuring system health and performance. - AWS Cloud Infrastructure:
Actively work on and enhance cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, to ensure optimized system performance and cost-effective scaling. - Mentorship:
Mentor junior developers, contribute to a learning culture, and engage in code reviews and knowledge sharing across the team.
Qualifications
- Education:
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field. - Experience:
A minimum of 5+ years in software development, with a focus on backend engineering. - Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in languages such as Ruby on Rails, Go Lang, Java, or similar backend technologies.
- Solid experience with distributed systems, data models, and product infrastructure development.
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB, Redis, and Cassandra.
- Familiarity with Cloud Infrastructure like AWS, GCP, Azure, or private clouds.
- Coding Practices:
Strong passion for building extensible, performant, and easy-to-read software. - Bonus Skills:
Previous experience in backend development for operational platforms or enterprise-level SaaS products would be beneficial.
